Miniature Schnauzer stud dogs with eye, heart and DNA results
The Mini Schnauzer is a sturdy little terrier with a famous beard. It is also a breed with a few inherited problems that DNA tests can now catch. Therefore, VerifiedStuds shows each stud's test results, color and fee, with an identity-verified owner.

Claim this spotMini Schnauzer stud fees commonly fall between $500 and $1,200. A health-checked male without titles often charges $500 to $900. However, AKC champions and proven sires from show lines usually ask $1,100 to $2,000.
These are market estimates, because fees are set privately. Non-standard colors are sometimes priced higher, although color has nothing to do with health. See our stud fee guide for a fair way to compare offers.

DNA tests add a second layer. For example, breeders screen for myotonia congenita, a muscle disorder, and for MAC, a fatal immune weakness. Tests for PRA are also available. In addition, ask about pancreatitis and bladder stones in the family, since both are common. Registered exams appear on the OFA website.
Our health testing guides explain what each exam and DNA result means. Read the full Miniature Schnauzer health testing guide.
First, check size. The standard calls for 12 to 14 inches at the shoulder. Smaller dogs sold as "toy" or "teacup" Schnauzers are not a recognized variety, and breeding for tiny size can bring health problems.
Next, consider color. The AKC standard accepts salt and pepper, black and silver, and solid black. White, parti and liver dogs can be registered, but they cannot be shown. So decide whether the show standard matters to your buyers.
Finally, look at coat and character. A correct coat is hard and wiry, which takes hand-stripping to maintain. Meanwhile, the right temperament is alert and friendly, never timid. Also ask for his DNA results, especially myotonia and MAC.
The AKC describes the Miniature Schnauzer as friendly, smart and obedient. German farmers bred it down from the Standard Schnauzer in the late 1800s to catch rats. Adults weigh 11 to 20 pounds.
The breed ranked 17th in AKC registrations for 2025. It sheds very little, adapts to city or country life and loves company. Consequently, demand is steady, and health-tested sires are always needed.
Mini Schnauzers breed naturally in most cases. Still, many owners offer chilled semen, which helps you reach a tested sire outside your area. Frozen semen is less common, but some show kennels store it. Each profile lists the methods available.

How much is a Miniature Schnauzer stud fee?
Most owners charge $500 to $1,200. However, champions and proven show-line sires can ask up to $2,000.
What health tests should a Mini Schnauzer stud have?
The parent club recommends heart and eye exams. Breeders also use DNA tests for myotonia congenita, MAC and PRA. We require a negative brucellosis test too.
Are white or parti Schnauzers purebred?
They can be AKC registered. However, those colors fall outside the show standard, so they cannot compete in conformation.
Is there a toy Schnauzer?
No. The AKC recognizes Miniature, Standard and Giant Schnauzers only. "Toy" and "teacup" are sales words.
Are other terriers welcome on the site?
Yes. Every breed can be listed on VerifiedStuds.
