Belgian Malinois stud dogs with proven working ability
The Malinois is bred to work, so a pedigree alone tells you little. Instead, breeders want to see titles, video and sound joints. On VerifiedStuds each stud profile shows his working record and health results, and every owner is identity verified.

Claim this spotMalinois stud fees usually range from $800 to $2,500. A health-tested male without titles tends to charge $800 to $1,500. In contrast, dogs with IGP, French Ring, Mondioring or KNPV titles, and proven producers of police dogs, often ask $2,000 to $3,500.
Stud prices are private, so these numbers are market estimates. Working breeders also trade a puppy for the service quite often. For the details of each arrangement, see our stud fee guide.

Overall, the Malinois is a healthy, athletic breed. Even so, hip and elbow dysplasia occur, and epilepsy appears in some families. Therefore, ask the owner directly about seizures in the pedigree. Imported dogs may show FCI hip grades instead, while OFA results can be checked on the OFA website.
To compare OFA, PennHIP and FCI hip grades, start with our health testing guides.
First, watch him work. Titles such as IGP, French Ring, Mondioring and PSA show that a dog has passed real tests of nerve, grip and control. KNPV certificates from the Netherlands carry weight too. Video of training is even better, because it shows how he handles pressure.
Next, match his drive to your goals. Some lines produce extreme dogs for police and military work. Others give clear-headed sport and active family dogs. So be honest about the homes your puppies will go to, and choose the sire accordingly.
Finally, check his offspring. A proven stud has adult pups that are working, titled or certified. In addition, ask whether he has an off switch at home, since a dog that can settle is easier for most buyers to live with.
The AKC describes the Belgian Malinois as confident, smart and hardworking. The breed began as a herding dog near the Belgian city of Malines. Today it is a first choice for police, military and detection units worldwide.
Males stand 24 to 26 inches tall and weigh about 60 to 80 pounds. They are lean, fast and intense, and they need a job. Consequently, responsible breeders screen buyers carefully and pick sires with stable nerves.
Malinois generally breed naturally. However, the best working males are often in another state or in Europe. For that reason, chilled and frozen semen are widely used in this breed. Each profile lists the methods, and many owners can arrange collection at a reproduction clinic.

How much does a Belgian Malinois stud cost?
Fees mostly run from $800 to $2,500. However, titled imports and proven police-dog producers can charge $3,500 or more.
What health tests should a Malinois stud have?
The parent club list asks for hips, elbows and an eye exam. We also require a negative brucellosis test before each breeding.
Do working titles really matter?
Yes, for most breeders. Titles prove nerve, drive and trainability under pressure. Therefore, they are the best evidence of what a sire may pass on.
What is a KNPV Malinois?
KNPV is the Royal Dutch Police Dog Association. Many KNPV dogs are unregistered working crosses, so check papers if registration matters to you.
Can owners of other breeds sign up?
Yes. All breeds are welcome on VerifiedStuds, even those without a breed page yet.
