Health-tested Miniature Pinscher stud dogs

Miniature Pinscher Stud Dogs

Fearless, fast and famous for a high-stepping trot, the Min Pin is called the King of Toys. It is not a small Doberman, and it has its own, shorter health list. On VerifiedStuds, every owner is identity verified, and each profile shows health results beside the fee.

What Miniature Pinscher stud dogs cost

Miniature Pinscher stud fees usually run from $500 to $1,200. A health-tested male with no proven litters often asks $500 to $700. However, champions and proven sires of correct size can ask $1,000 to $1,500.

These are market estimates, since fees are private. Size and movement both affect price, because the hackney gait is a hallmark of the breed. The stud fee guide explains contracts and return services.

Health tests for Miniature Pinscher stud dogs

The Miniature Pinscher Club of America is the AKC parent club. Its recommended list, as published by the AKC, has one core item: a patella exam. However, careful breeders add more. We suggest these results:

Test

What we accept

Patellas

Veterinary patellar luxation exam

Eyes

Exam by a board-certified ophthalmologist

Hips

X-ray to rule out Legg-Calve-Perthes disease

Heart

Cardiac exam registered with OFA

Brucellosis

Negative test taken before the breeding

Loose kneecaps are the breed's most common inherited fault. In addition, Legg-Calve-Perthes disease damages the hip joint in young toy dogs, and a DNA test exists for a rare storage disease called MPS VI. Registered results are public on the OFA website.

See our OFA patella evaluation guide and the other health testing guides for how each test works.

How to choose between Miniature Pinscher stud dogs

First, measure him. The standard asks for 10 to 12.5 inches at the shoulder, and dogs outside that range are disqualified from the show ring. Very tiny dogs are also more fragile. Therefore, a male in the middle of the range is the safer choice.

Next, watch him move. The Min Pin's hackney-like gait, with a high lift of the front feet, is unique among toy breeds. A sound dog shows it freely, with a level back.

Finally, judge temperament. The AKC describes the breed as fearless, fun-loving and proud. Confidence is correct, yet a sire should not be snappy.

Miniature Pinscher temperament and background

The breed is German and several hundred years old, which makes it much older than the Doberman. It was a stable ratter, probably bred from German Pinschers, Dachshunds and Italian Greyhounds. The AKC recognized it in 1925. Colors are solid red, stag red, and black or chocolate with rust markings.

At home, the Min Pin is lively, curious and a skilled escape artist. However, it is a big personality in a small body. As a result, it suits owners who enjoy training and have secure fences.

Natural breeding, chilled and frozen semen

Miniature Pinschers usually breed naturally without trouble. However, show breeders often ship chilled or frozen semen to reach sires of correct size and movement. Each profile lists the methods on offer.

The dog artificial insemination guide explains timing and shipping. Then see how VerifiedStuds works.
