What a Golden Retriever stud fee costs

Golden Retriever stud fees commonly run from about $500 to $2,000, with titled and proven studs at the top of that range or above it. In addition, some owners ask for pick of the litter instead of, or on top of, a cash fee. Our stud fee guide covers the common arrangements.

Titled and proven studs: top of the range, although some charge more

Field, show and family lines

Goldens are bred for the show ring, field work and family life, and the lines differ in coat, build and drive. Therefore, owners tag each stud's line and list titles such as CH, FC or hunt test titles, so you can match a stud to your program.

Golden Retriever stud FAQ

How much is a Golden Retriever stud fee?

Most fall between $500 and $2,000. However, titled studs and proven producers can cost more, and some owners take pick of the litter instead.

What clearances should a Golden Retriever stud have?

OFA hips, elbows, heart and eyes, the NCL DNA test, and a recent negative Brucellosis test. In addition, PRA and ichthyosis DNA results are a plus.

How old must a Golden stud be?

OFA gives final hip and elbow ratings at 24 months, so a fully cleared stud is at least two years old.

Is natural breeding available?

Many Golden owners offer natural breeding as well as chilled or frozen semen. Each profile lists the options.

Can I see a stud's OFA results myself?

Yes. Profiles show the OFA numbers the owner uploaded, and you can also look them up on the OFA website.

Does VerifiedStuds guarantee a litter?

No. We verify owner identity and health documents, but conception depends on both dogs. Any return service comes from the stud owner's terms.
