Aussiedoodle stud dogs with DNA and health results
Bright, busy and often strikingly marked, this mix of Australian Shepherd and Poodle is one of the smartest doodles around. It is a cross, not an AKC breed, so quality varies widely. Therefore, health tests and DNA matter even more. VerifiedStuds shows both on each stud profile, beside the fee.

Claim this spotAussiedoodle stud fees usually run from $700 to $2,000. A health-tested male with no proven litters often charges $700 to $1,200. However, proven sires with tested coat genes and popular colors can ask $1,500 to $2,500.
These are market estimates, since fees are private. Many breeders also use a purebred Poodle as the sire. So compare our Poodle stud page too. The stud fee guide explains contracts and return services.
$700 to $2,000+
Overall range (estimate): $700 to $2,500
Health-tested, unproven male: $700 to $1,200
Proven sire with tested coat genes: $1,500 to $2,500

Because the Aussiedoodle is a cross, it has no AKC parent club and no CHIC list. So a careful stud owner covers the risks of both parent breeds. We suggest these results:
Test
What we accept
MDR1
DNA test for multidrug sensitivity
Eyes
Exam by a board-certified ophthalmologist (ACVO)
Hips
OFA hip evaluation or PennHIP
Elbows
OFA elbow evaluation
Patellas
Veterinary exam for mini and toy sizes
DNA panel
prcd-PRA, HSF4 cataract, CEA and DM, plus coat genes
Brucellosis
Negative test taken before the breeding
The Australian Shepherd side brings the MDR1 drug-sensitivity gene, inherited cataracts and Collie eye anomaly. The Poodle side adds PRA and, in small sizes, loose kneecaps. Therefore, a DNA panel and a current eye exam are the minimum. Registered results are on the OFA website.
See our health testing guides for more detail on each test.
First, learn the generation labels. An F1 is a first cross of Aussie and Poodle. An F1b is an F1 bred back to a Poodle. Multigen means both parents are Aussiedoodles. Each step changes how predictable the coat will be.
Next, ask about merle. Many Aussiedoodles carry the merle pattern, and it can hide in light or cream coats. Because a puppy with two merle copies risks deafness and eye defects, two merles must never be bred together. So ask for an M locus DNA result on the stud, and test your female as well.
Finally, match energy and size. This cross is clever and needs a job. As a result, a calm, biddable sire is worth more than a flashy coat.
Breeders began crossing Australian Shepherds with Poodles in the 1990s and 2000s, as doodles grew popular. Both parents rank among the most trainable breeds. The cross is not recognized by the AKC, and results vary from dog to dog.
At their best, Aussiedoodles are affectionate, quick to learn and tireless. However, no dog is truly allergy free. As a result, honest breeders test coats and health, and they explain the limits to buyers.
Aussiedoodles of similar size breed naturally. However, when a small male is used on a larger female, artificial insemination is the practical route. Chilled semen is common as well, because breeders often search widely for the right size and coat genes. Each profile lists the methods on offer.
The dog artificial insemination guide explains timing and shipping. Then see how VerifiedStuds works.

How much is an Aussiedoodle stud fee?
Most owners charge $700 to $2,000. However, proven sires with tested coat genes can ask up to $2,500. These figures are estimates.
What health tests should an Aussiedoodle stud have?
There is no official list. Even so, good breeders test MDR1, eyes, hips and elbows, and run a DNA panel. We also require a negative brucellosis test.
Why does MDR1 matter in Aussiedoodles?
Dogs with the MDR1 fault can react badly to common drugs. The gene comes from the Australian Shepherd side, and a DNA test finds it.
Do Aussiedoodles shed?
Some do. Shedding depends on coat genes, which a DNA test can show. Therefore, ask for the stud's furnishings and shedding results.
Can crossbreeds be listed on the site?
Yes. Purebred dogs and crosses can both be listed on VerifiedStuds.
